Water at the dog park
If you are a visitor of the dog park you know
that we do not have running water. If everyone could
help out and take a jug home to fill and bring back at your
next visit, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
to all who regularly fill the empty jugs.

How YOU Can Help
‘Fund-our-Fence’
&
‘Buy-a-Brick’
Fundraising Campaigns
Work in progress at the dog park - 2007
The Ace
of Hearts Creek Rotary Park, located at 38th & H
Avenues, will have a 1.5 acre area for our dogs to run &
play. The fence is scheduled to go up in early 2008, and
when ready, we will move from our downtown temporary park
back to our permanent home. We plan on also adding trees, a
gazebo, and benches, so now is the time to raise the money
for our dog park fence.
By purchasing a
personalized and permanent fence plaque or brick you will
help us build the dog park fence and brick walkways. Just click on the
buttons below to see the campaign brochure and donation
forms. This could even be that one gift for your dog lover,
we will send a gift card to those whose donation form is
received by December 15th. And remember your donations maybe tax deductible!
Thank you for
all your help.

Bark in the Park Dog Festival - a huge success!
Thank
you to all who attended the Bark in the Park
Dog Festival. We started out with clouds overhead
and the threat of rain, but the clouds soon
disappeared and we had a wonderful Northwest day.
There were over 21 vendors displaying their wares, a
silent auction, dog competitions, agility
demonstrations, and fun for all. Over $4200
was raised for the Off Leash Dog Park.
Again, thank you to all of you who helped make this
event a success.

Historically speaking . . .
Life got better for Anacortes dogs with the grand opening of Anacortes' Off-Leash Dog Park on November 22, 2003. Thanks to the efforts of F.I.D.O. (Fidalgo Islanders for Dogs Off-leash), the fenced park is the first off-leash dog park in Skagit County, and is the only public area in the city where it is legal for dogs to be off-leash. Located at the site of the old reservoir off H Avenue & 38th Street, the park provides approximately two acres for dogs to run and play, and gives their humans a place to socialize with each other while overseeing their pets.
To find the park, click here for a map and directions and be sure to familiarize yourself with our park rules and etiquette. If you bring children to the park, please read our tips for kids.

A look at the future dog park . . .
The current off-leash dog park will be seeing some changes soon!
The City of Anacortes will be expanding the H Avenue site to accommodate a 1.5-acre dog park, a baseball field and an extensive wetland and pond system from the Ace of Hearts Creek. The new park complex is a community and City project. Anacortes Noon Rotary Club as well as FIDO (Fidalgo Islanders for Dogs Off-leash) will assist the City through fundraising and volunteer efforts. The new park will be developed in stages as funding becomes available.
The dog park portion will be the first area worked on and
will begin work August 7, 2006, the entire project may take as long as 5 years.
